Writing Plus is a companion to Reading Plus, a widely recognized reading
program. It offers a systematic approach to elaborate the students’ writing skills,
from spelling to information research. The six sections target:
1. Spelling: strategies to help students spell correctly.
2. Vocabulary: word-learning skills.
3. Sentences: error correction, sentence-building and combining skills.
4. Paragraphs: avoiding common problems and making students familiar
with paragraph structures of various types of texts: narrative, descriptive,
expository, and persuasive.
5. Writing Process: a systematic approach to all types of writing through
prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing.
6. Research: helping students use books, diverse print materials, and the
Internet to develop research skills.
Each section consists of:
1. Rule Boxes.
2. Models: illustrate the language point being discussed in each rule box.
3. Multiple-Choice Exercises: provide practice of the rules.
In addition, there are ten Language Activity Pages (LAPs) in each book. They
provide opportunities to review key terms, practice to master the key concepts,
and activities to elaborate the skills.
