Reading on Target
High Beginning to Advanced

Reading on Target helps high school students prepare for the three different question types in the college entrance exam-cloze, structure, and reading comprehension. Focused practice equips them with the strategies and language ability they need to pass the exam.

Part 1 - Cloze. Students practice identifying part of speech and considering other clues such as context, grammar and/ or collocation.
Part 2 - Structure. This section focuses on understanding text organization: identifying the topic sentence, the supporting details, the concluding sentence, etc.
Part 3 – Reading Comprehension. The final part of this book covers typical reading comprehension questions:
• Main idea
• Details
• Source
• Purpose
• Conclusion or inference
• Guessing the meaning
• Facts or opinions
• Reference
• Tone or attitude of the author
