Reading For Comprehension is intended for low-intermediate students. Fortyeight
well-organized and authentic essays are selected from English writers.
They cover a wide range of hot topics and they are written in different writing
modes.
Features
Each unit begins with “Vocabulary In Context”, in which several words from
the following passage are singled out for recognition. Students are required
to guess their meaning from the context.
Read On Their Own requires students to read critically. The purpose is to
help them make an in-depth study of each essay. In Sentence Patterns,
example sentences quoted from famous writers or “The Economist” are
given to shed light on the usage of each sentence structure.
