Articles from the International Herald Tribune provide a framework for improving reading and language skills while helping users become independent, critical readers of newspapers.

Items are grouped in sections: News, Opinion, Business, Profiles, Arts/Entertainment, Science/Health, and Sports. Articles are accompanied by activities such as: Getting the Message, Expanding Your Vocabulary, Working with Idioms, Analyzing Style and Tone, and Talking and Writing.

A “Focus on the Newspaper” unit presents the style and conventions of journalistic writing and introduces strategies for analyzing articles. Photos, graphs, and illustrations appear throughout the text.
